Be Careful With Social Media!
- Anything you post on social media can be used against you!
- We recommend
not posting anything until your case is over.
- If you must post, never post anything about your case, accident, injuries or treatment.
- Even simple vacation and sports photos have been used against our clients to lower their settlement!
- Before posting, consult our office first, or run the risk of getting a lower settlement.
Limit Your Discussions About Your Case!
- Don't make any written or recorded statements to anyone.
- Be careful who you talk to about your case; they can testify against you.
Preserve Evidence
- Take
many photos and videos of your injuries, close-up and far away. Your face should be visible in some to prove it's you.
- Take photos of car damage and the accident scene.
- Keep a simple diary of your pain and suffering: Describe the location and severity of your pain by date.
- Keep a simple diary of medical appointments.
- Keep any medical device you use such as crutches.
- If you slipped and fell, keep your shoes.
- Keep any evidence you think is important.
Medical Treatment
- Don't miss your medical appointments! If you do, that will lower your settlement.
- Keep us updated on your treatment. We don't submit your settlement demand until treatment is complete.
- Send us a list of your doctors and hospitals, and any bills and records you have.
- Let us know if you are a Medi-Cal or Medi-Care member.
Wage Loss
- Missed time from work? Let us know so we can recover your wage loss.
- You will need a disability slip from your doctor for the missed time.
- Your employer must verify your wage loss in writing.
Insurance Fraud
- It is a felony to make a false insurance claim.
The Scope of Our Legal Service
- You have hired our law firm to represent you in a specific matter, which is described in your fee agreement. Unless specified in writing, we will not be handling any other legal matter for you even if it is related to your case.
- On the Job Injuries: We do not handle
workers' compensation claims. If you'd like a workers compensation attorney, let us know in writing and we will help you find one.
