About Steven Choi

Steven Choi has specialized in personal injury law for over 30 years. Mr. Choi attended both UC Berkeley and UCLA, and received a BA in Psychology from UCLA. Mr. Choi received his law degree from the UC College of the Law, San Francisco   Before opening his law firm, Mr. Choi clerked for the San Mateo and Alameda County Superior Courts. Mr. Choi has provided legal commentary for Local TV, held Public Lectures on the law and has lectured to other attorneys at legal seminars. Mr. Choi was formerly a Judge Pro Tem for the Alameda County Superior Court.

Crypto Litigation Sub-Specialty

Mr. Choi began developing a niche in crypto litigation in 2014 when he represented a former client in a dispute involving a bitcoin mining machine. At the time, bitcoin was unfamiliar to him, but he quickly gained the knowledge necessary to handle the case effectively. The following year, Mr. Choi rented a condo to the CEO and founder of a start-up that has since become one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. Through this connection, Mr. Choi gained invaluable insights into the crypto industry and has been a crypto advocate ever since. Expert Board Game Player

Mr. Choi is an accomplished board game player. He's won many Backgammon Tournaments including most recently, the 2024 Hawaii State Backgammon Championship, which he won while vacationing in Hawaii. Mr. Choi won the Amateur Division of the 1998 World Backgammon Championship held in Monte Carlo and the American Backgammon Championship Holiday Tournament held in Las Vegas Mr. Choi was also an avid No-Limit Hold'em poker player winning many local tournaments and placing “in the money” in the 2006 World Series of Poker (808th place out of 8,773 players.) Mr. Choi was also his state's high school chess champion and placed 3rd in the overall state championship while still in high school. 


Mr. Choi is married, has two children and lives in Berkeley, CA.

About Jessica Alvarado

Ms. Alvarado was born and raised in the Bay Area. She received her BA degree from UC Berkeley in 2000 and her Juris Doctor degree from Golden Gate Law School in 2005.   Ms. Alvarado was admitted to the California Bar in 2007 and has been practicing personal injury law exclusively since joining The Choi Law Firm in 2013.  Ms. Alvarado speaks and writes Spanish fluently.


Ms. Alvarado is a tireless advocate for her clients and takes great satisfaction in helping them put their lives back together, both physically, emotionally and financially. 


Apart from her legal work, Ms. Alvarado has a long history of serving her community. She was on the board of directors for the Redwood City Library Foundation, a Rotarian for the Redwood City Rotary chapter and was a volunteer for the annual North Fair Oaks Festival.
