Lockett V. Budget Rent-A-Car

Mr. Lockett was riding a motorcycle when he was struck and killed by a drunk driver who had rented a car from Budget Rent-A-Car. We discovered that the drunk driver was unlicensed and that Budget rented the car to an unlicensed driver.  We filed suit against the drunk driver and Budget Rent-A-Car on a theory of negligent entrustment.  An Alameda County Jury awarded Mr. Lockett's family $5 million dollars. This case was reported in the Oakland Tribune.
